My wife Jody and I were chaplains with Hospice in Texarkana, however beginning in 2010 we started working with the prison ministry with the Park Church of Christ in Tulsa as volunteers, and I accepted the position of Prison Minister in 2019. I am also a chaplains assistant at Dick Conner's Correctional Center in Hominy OK. Where I teach classes, and conduct worship services. We began a cell to cell ministry a couple of months ago in which we go into the pods, and cells reaching out to the gang members and others who have not given their lives over to the Lord. We now have close to 1,500 correspondence students mostly located in OK prisons, but also a few in Texas, Kansas, and a couple in Federal Prisons. We also visit the county Jail in Tulsa where our volunteers baptized app 400 men and women last year. We helped initiate Angel Tree within our congregation, the Family Engagement project in an attempt to keep families together, and this year, with the Lord's help we will begin our Children's engagement project... reaching out to incarcerated children. If anyone has a loved one or friend who is incarcerated who they would like for us to reach out to, all they have to do is just contact me and we'll take it from there. One last thing I have to give the credit to my amazing wife for the success of this ministry, she works long hard hours for these people...it has become her passion. update: 8/20/2023 we are now conducting university level certification classes in the prisons in bible studies for the Sunset International Bible Institute. (I have also been approached by Oklahoma Christian University to help them as they begin offering classes in the Oklahoma Prison System in the fall of 2023) I hope you will keep these incarcerated men and women in your prayers for their spiritual growth.

My first year at North I decided for some unknown reason to join the cross country team (I have always hated running) and made a deal with one other boy who apparently didn't like it any better than I did that I wouldn't pass him if he wouldn't pass me.... when we finally arrived back to the locker room, everyone else had showered and dressed and the coach (Bolin, I think?) told us he was going to have to call the sheriffs office and have them call off the search.... I actually did get better before the season was over, but I didn't do that again. And, as it turned out our granddaughter became a really great runner, and was ranked number 6 in Arkansas, and won a full ride scholarship to the The university of Arkansas, but turned it down, she said it wouldn't leave her time to study... She's now an RN in Texarkana.
